Teplice lose Rezek to Sparta

AC Sparta Praha have bought striker Jan Rezek from FK Teplice for an undisclosed fee.

FK Teplice's hopes of advancing in the UEFA Cup have suffered a blow after their talented young striker Jan Rezek was sold to Czech champions AC Sparta Praha for an undisclosed fee.

No9 shirt
The 21-year-old today signed a three-and-half-year contract at the Toyota Arena, where he will wear the No9 shirt vacated by UEFA Champions League hero Marek Kincl following his transfer to Russian club FC Zenit St. Peterburg. Rezek was instrumental in Teplice reaching the third round of the UEFA Cup, having scored in the away legs of the victories against 1. FC Kaiserslautern and Feyenoord. However, that will leave him cut tied for the Champions League.

Vorísek talks
Sparta, who have loaned the 20-year-old defender Martin Klein as part of the Rezek deal, are also closing in on Teplice's Czech international Petr Vorísek. Talks are scheduled to take place next week. Teplice coach Frantisek Straka is keen to replace Rezek for the second half of the Czech season and the European tie against Celtic FC. FK Jablonec 97 striker Jirí Masek is rumoured to be his first choice.
