Goalkeeper Sergei Ryzhikov has pledged his future to FC Rubin Kazan by signing a new contract that ties him to the Russian champions until 2012.

Ryzhikov had reportedly been subject to interest from other clubs but a statement from Rubin confirmed the 29-year-old is staying put: "Rubin goalkeeper Sergei Ryzhikov has extended his contract with the club until the end of 2012." The former FC Lokomotiv Moskva and FC Tom Tomsk player joined Rubin in 2008 and has made 66 Russian Premier League appearances. He has played every minute of the club's 2010 league campaign, helping them to second in the top flight, seven points behind FC Zenit St. Petersburg. Rubin enter this season's UEFA Champions League at the group stage, the draw for which is made on 26 August.
