Unai Emery could not fault his Valencia CF side even though they ended up losing 1-0 at home against Manchester United FC in UEFA Champions League Group C, while Sir Alex Ferguson was pleased to see what his side could achieve when they play "good football".

Unai Emery, Valencia coach
We can be satisfied with everything except the result. This game will help us to look forward with optimism and we have to continue improving by staying on this path. My team was compact and took a big step forward in terms of confidence and maturity. I'm very satisfied with the work the players put in and the support we received. We played to win and over the 90 minutes we got closer and closer to scoring and deserved the victory. We created chances and although we didn't convert them it was important we got into those positions.

I have no complaints with my team tonight because they always kept that winning mentality. Having said that, we have to congratulate Manchester United. All four of our remaining games in the group will be crucial but we're looking ahead to our next rivals, Rangers, and both of those games are sure to be fantastic.

Sir Alex Ferguson, United manager
We're always a threat when we play good football and get to the edge of the box; some of the football was good, very good. Chico [Javier Hernández] had really good penetration because of his quickness. There was a moment before he scored when he made a great run and that's what we needed at that stage of the game.

It was Anderson's first game back for a long time and playing at that level he had to come off at some point. [Dimitar] Berbatov did a great job in terms of leading the line, so the changes suited us in terms of energy. It's a great result for us, it's not easy coming here. Rio Ferdinand did very well, it was his first real big match for five months and I'm very pleased with that.
