Frustration but no drama for Chelsea's Drogba

Didier Drogba says he can live with the frustration after a goalless draw with FC København sent Chelsea FC into the quarter-finals, where the Blues will "do everything to go through".

Didier Drogba and his strike partners may have failed to score against FC København but the forward can live with the frustration after a goalless draw took Chelsea FC into the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.

While Chelsea had 22 goal attempts to FCK's seven in the round of 16 second leg at Stamford Bridge, a lack of finishing had the hosts relying on their 2-0 victory in Denmark on 22 February to see them into Friday's draw. This left Drogba weighing up the right adjective to describe the stalemate.

"We can't say disappointing," he said. "A bit frustrating because we didn't score. But I think the most important thing was to qualify." The Ivorian international also pointed out that Chelsea had come close on several occasions in each half to breaking the deadlock: "We created a lot of chances and I think that's the most important thing. It's not easy. The few chances Copenhagen had were from set pieces – we managed to create chances by playing. So it's not a drama."

Drogba was equally sanguine about the possible outcome of the draw at UEFA's headquarters in Nyon. There are plenty of recent UEFA Champions League winners in the last eight and the 33-year-old was understandably wary of singling out one in particular to avoid.

"Let's wait for the draw and see what's going to happen," he said. "We just want to play this quarter-final and do everything to go through. There's a lot of big teams there. It's difficult to say 'I want to avoid Manchester United' and then you play Barcelona – or 'I want to avoid Barcelona' and then you play Inter Milan. They're all big teams."

Drogba's views on the Londoners' display and their quarter-final prospects were shared by midfielder John Obi Mikel, who was among the unlucky ones on Wednesday after finding the crossbar with a header.

Drogba, Yuri Zhirkov, Nicolas Anelka – who had scored both goals in the away leg – and Ramires also tried their luck in vain against the Danish Super League leaders. "Overall, I think it was a good performance. It was professional work done," Mikel said. "We're very happy, very pleased to go through to the next round. No matter who we get, we just have to play our game and make sure we win."
