Aleksandrs Cauņa has made his loan stay at PFC CSKA Moskva a permanent one after signing a five-year contract with the UEFA Champions League hopefuls.

The 23-year-old Latvian international joined the Army Men on loan from Skonto FC, in February but was restricted to just three league games due to a persistent thigh injury. In spite of his limited playing time, CSKA Moskva have seen enough potential in the midfielder, who has scored six goals in 24 appearances for Latvia, to offer him a long-term deal.

CSKA have a four-point lead at the top of the Russian Premier League having accrued 34 points from 15 matches and will begin their 2011/12 UEFA Champions League campaign in the group stage.
