• Matchday six marked Didier Deschamps' 24th UEFA competition game at the OM helm, surpassing Erik Gerets' club record.

• Marseille have scored 146 goals in the European Cup.

• Souleymane Diawara and Steve Mandanda are both suspended for the first leg; Alou Diarra, André Ayew, Morgan Amalfitano and Jérémy Morel will incur a ban with their next bookings.

• Substitute Charles Kaboré was sent off just before half-time as Marseille halted a run of seven successive defeats in all competitions, extra time included.

• On 17 March, OM suffered their fifth successive league loss, 2-1 to Dijon FCO. Nicolas N'Koulou was sent off 12 minutes from time, meaning he was suspended for Saturday's trip to Nice.

• OM exited the Coupe de France at the quarter-final stage on 20 March, suffering a 3-2 extra-time defeat at third-tier US Quevilly. Loïc Rémy twice equalised (85, 113), before Johan Christophe Ayina's 117th-minute winner.

• Goalkeeper Gennaro Bracigliano made his fourth start of the season at Quevilly as Mandanda was rested.

• Marseille have been knocked out of the Coupe de France by lower-league sides in three of the last five seasons.

• Marseille could become the first side to win the French League Cup three years running when they face Olympique Lyonnais in the final in Paris on 14 April.

• Marseille went 450 minutes without a goal between their last-16 efforts against Inter – 78 minutes shy of their most barren spell set in August/September 2001.

• OM went bottom of Ligue 1 for the first time in six years after their 2-0 loss at Lyon on 18 September.

Injury news
• Diawara limped off with a thigh injury after seven minutes in Nice, a game Rémy sat out due to a thigh problem.

• César Azpilicueta was rested against Quevilly after complaining of knee pains but started at Nice.

• André Ayew has been playing despite ongoing shoulder problems, explaining: "I need surgery but if I do it now, my season will be over. I will carry on like this for the time being."

• Amalfitano made his international debut on 29 February as a France side also including Mathieu Valbuena and Diarra claimed a 2-1 friendly win against Germany in Bremen.

• Toni Kroos' third goal in five games set Bayern on course for their ninth successive home win in all competitions. During that time they have scored 32 goals and conceded four.

• Bayern have won 18 of their 20 home games in all competitions this season, losing the other two 1-0 to Borussia Dortmund (19 November) and VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach (7 August).

• Initially rested on Saturday, Gomez came on to score his 37th goal in his last 39 games for club and country.

• Schweinsteiger has made just two substitute appearances since 8 February – most recently the second leg against FC Basel 1893 – because of an ankle problem.

• Diego Contento, out with a broken toe since 13 January, has been an unused substitute for Bayern's last six games.

• Daniel Van Buyten has been sidelined with a broken metatarsal since 20 January.

• Breno, out since having a knee operation on 11 May, is yet to play this season. He was an unused substitute against Wolfsburg on 28 January but has since undergone further knee surgery.

• On 29 February, Ribéry helped France to a 2-1 victory over a Germany side featuring club-mates Holger Badstuber, Boateng, Kroos, Thomas Müller and Gomez.

• In February it was announced that Xherdan Shaqiri will join from FC Basel 1893 in the summer on a four-year deal.
