Marcos remains cautious

FC Nantes Atlantique coach Ángel Marcos has admitted the likelihood of his side winning is minimal ahead of tonight's UEFA Champions League Group A encounter with Manchester United FC at Old Trafford.

FC Nantes Atlantique coach Ángel Marcos has admitted the likelihood of his side winning is minimal ahead of tonight's UEFA Champions League Group A encounter with Manchester United FC at Old Trafford.

'Our chances are not high'
Marcos, whose team held the 1999 European champions to a 1-1 draw in France last week, said: "For many of us, to play at Old Trafford is a dream. Our chances to win are not high, but they exist. We will have to enlarge the game and work on all the width of the field, keeping the ball at our feet if we want to win. And we will have to be very careful with [Ruud] van Nistelrooij - this guy is very unpredictable for defenders."

Resilient defending
Van Nistelrooij, who with seven goals is second only to Juventus FC's David Trezeguet in this season's Champions League goalscoring charts, took 90 minutes to find the net last Wednesday, but Marcos still makes five changes to the side that defended so resiliently in Nantes.

Five changes
Along with the suspended Mario Yepes, Viorel Moldovan, Nicolas Savinaud, Marama Vahirua and Olivier Quint all miss out this evening. Frédéric DaRocha, Pierre-Yves André, Eric Djemba-Djemba, Yves Deroff and 20-year-old defender Jean-Hughes Bilayi Ateba start in their places.

Beckham starts
Buoyed by David Beckham shaking off a slight calf injury, Sir Alex Ferguson has made just two alterations to the team he sent out at the Beaujoire stadium a week ago. The United manager has abandoned the 4-5-1 formation he used in France for a more attacking 4-4-2 lineup, bringing in Ole Gunnar Solskjær for midfield player Paul Scholes. The only other change is at left-back, where Philip Neville is replaced by Denis Irwin, a switch made for last weekend's 1-0 FA Premiership defeat of Aston Villa FC.

Last chance for Nantes
On paper, it may seem like a comfortable home victory is on the cards for United, but as anything less than three points would effectively end the French side's dreams of progressing to the quarter-finals, it should be an entertaining game.
