Turkish champions Galatasaray AŞ have signed last season's Super League top scorer Burak Yılmaz from Trabzonspor AŞ for a reported fee of €5m.

The Turkey striker, 27, has signed a four-year contract with an option for a further 12 months and Trabzonspor are also entitled to a 25% cut of his next transfer. Burak, who previously was with Antalyaspor, Beşiktaş JK, Manisaspor, Fenerbahçe SK and Eskişehirspor, becomes only the second player after Sergen Yalçın to be with all of Turkey's 'big four' – the Istanbul trio and Trabzonspor.

He proved himself as a prolific striker at Trabzonspor, scoring 55 goals in 75 league appearances in the last three seasons. Burak made his Turkey debut when at Antalyaspor in 2006 under current Galatasaray coach Fatih Terim but did not properly break into the team for another four years, scoring three UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying goals among his 18 caps.

Burak is Galatasaray's fourth pre-season signing after Dany Nounkeu, Umut Bulut and Hamit Altıntop as they prepare for the UEFA Champions League group stage.
