As a name inextricably linked with the greats of European football, Ruud Gullit poured invaluable insight over the hundreds of questions that came in via #AskGullit on Twitter. Recognised as the continent's finest player in 1987, Gullit eclipsed that honour by winning the UEFA European Championship with the Netherlands the following year, before starring in AC Milan's back-to-back European Cup triumphs in a feat that stands today.

@goro_zone: How far can AC Milan go in this season's Champions League?

Ruud Gullit: It's very hard to tell. I think it is difficult to make a prediction on that because it is such a young team. They have already lost their first league match at home, so they need time. Just give them time. I know it's Milan, I know it's a young team, so support them as much as you can.

@adrianMUFC: What was your best moment in your football career?

Gullit: The best moment was making my debut. But winning the European Championship for your country was the pinnacle for me.

@kennyneill75: What is the key to developing young players?

Gullit: Not to over work them in the beginning. Just let them play, let them loose, let them dribble, let them think about the game. Eventually you have to give them a little bit of instruction, but his intuition is the most valuable thing that he has. And sometimes they can figure out things by themselves. And then you can just mould them to become better players.

@giuscolu: Would your Milan team have beaten the recent Barcelona team of Messi etc.?

Gullit: I don't know, it's a very different era. Sometimes if I compare today's game, the tempo is so much faster nowadays, there's more interest in it. I don't think you can compare that. I would like to, but there's no comparison. We had a great time, we enjoyed it. We still have the record of two consecutive wins in the Champions League so I am very happy with that.

@devilmaker95: Who do you think can succeed Didier Drogba at Chelsea?

Gullit: It has to be Torres, because he remains the only out-and-out striker they have. I hope he does it. He has started well this season. I always have a feeling that he's still not right for some reason and I don't know why. He deserves all the credit he gets for what he has done.

@Davyrip: What was it like playing in the 1989 European Cup final?

Gullit: The Nou Camp was full of Milan fans, because in those days not a lot of Steaua fans were allowed to come to Europe, so we had all the tickets. Can you imagine almost 90,000 Milan fans there cheering us on? We were focused. To win a final 4-0 is unbelievable and to score two goals is something else.

What I remember more about that game is the moment we arrived at the stadium. It was a sea of red and black flags. It was difficult to get through to go to the locker room. It was an amazing feeling.
