PSG smiling as Dynamo inquest begins

Qualification was the buzz for Paris Saint-Germain FC's Ezequiel Lavezzi and Zlatan Ibrahimović, with FC Dynamo Kyiv's Yevhen Khacheridi adding: "Both PSG goals were my fault."

Qualifying for the round of 16, rather than scoring his first UEFA Champions League goals for Paris Saint-Germain FC, was Ezequiel Lavezzi's focus after Wednesday's 2-0 Group A success at FC Dynamo Kyiv. In the home dressing room Yevhen Khacheridi shouldered the blame for the mistakes that snuffed out his side's hopes of survival in the competition.

Ezequiel Lavezzi, PSG forward
The result is fair. The team did well, it was a good performance, and luckily we managed to win and to seal qualification. We knew they would be difficult opponents who play good football, and it was not easy to come here and win, but the team showed that we have lots of personality. We did a great job. It wasn't easy at all, but I think we managed to dominate and to score goals at the right times. We are calm because we have qualified for the next round. Now we have to get ready for the last 16, because at that stage you are out if you don't do things well. There is no room for error.

Zlatan Ibrahimović, PSG forward
We made a good start and we got through the group stage. We only needed one point but we took three. It was a very important game for us because we lost our last match in the French championship. Everything went very well. You should always be 100% because anything can happen in the Champions League. I know that Dynamo have been having difficulties in the Ukrainian league, but this tournament is something different. I'm glad we beat them twice.

I have fantastic memories of this stadium and the city [from UEFA EURO 2012]. We had three wonderful games here with a lot of Swedish fans supporting us. I scored a few goals so it was a great memory that will always be with me.

Yevhen Khacheridi, Dynamo defender
Our aim was qualifying for the knockout stage and we had a chance to keep our hopes alive, but my bad mistakes made it impossible. Both PSG goals were my fault. We counterattacked very well, controlled the ball but couldn't score, while our mistakes decided the result. We understood before the game that our chances to go through were small – we tried hard but failed to show our best.

Yes, we are ashamed of our recent results. What more can I say? It's hard to tell what our main problem is. We are very disappointed but we still have three games left before the winter break and we need to make amends. We are saying goodbye to the Champions League but we are glad we have booked a place in the Europa League round of 32. It's a very interesting and competitive tournament.

Oleh Gusev, Dynamo midfielder
They had three chances and scored two goals, while we had 16 shots but couldn't score. It's very frustrating to lose this way as we had more possession, more shots and corners. We played very well and put all our efforts into the match, but conceded the first goal after one silly mistake. We wanted to accelerate the pace in the second half but again conceded a silly goal. I can't say that it finished us as we tried to attack more and more but never got back into the game.

The Champions League was a dream for many of us. Lots of players move to Dynamo to play in this tournament so we are really disappointed to end it like this. We still have one game in the group and we want to win it. It's important for our ranking but we also want to go into the winter break fresh from a victory. Our coach and president have told us there will be major changes in the winter, so all of us want to do our best in the next matches and prove we deserve to play for a club like Dynamo Kyiv.
