Greek champions Olympiacos FC have signed forward Alejandro Domínguez on a free transfer from Rayo Vallecano de Madrid.

Domínguez has agreed a two-year deal and is the Red and Whites' second summer acquisition after the capture of Slovakia winger Vladimír Weiss from Italian Serie B side Pescara Calcio.

"I am very happy to join the Olympiacos family," said 32-year-old Domínguez, who scored four goals in 23 Spanish Liga appearances last term for Rayo. "I came here to give my best and especially to compete in the UEFA Champions League.

"I know several of my countrymen have played for Olympiacos in the past and left their mark here – that is what I intend to do as well. I am excited to join a team I have heard so much about and that sports the colours I love."

Domínguez represented Quilmes AC and CA River Plate in his native Argentina before moving to Russia – where he won the Premier-Liga title with FC Zenit St Petersburg and FC Rubin Kazan, as well as the UEFA Cup and UEFA Super Cup with the former – in 2004. Two seasons with Valencia CF and a single term with River Plate preceded his switch to Rayo in August 2012.

Olympiacos enter the UEFA Champions League in the group stage stage, the draw for which takes place on 29 August.
