UEFA Champions League play-off contenders FC Metalist Kharkiv have suffered an injury blow with the news that midfielder Chaco Torres will be sidelined until the end of the year.
The 28-year-old suffered a damaged cruciate ligament in his knee after a collision during Saturday's 2-2 Ukrainian Premier League draw at FC Zorya Luhansk, which will keep him out for four months. Torres will return to his native Argentina to begin his rehabilitation.
He is the latest name to join the club's injury list, with playmaker Cleiton Xavier off for another two weeks and goalkeeper Olexandr Goryainov absent for at least a month. Those setbacks have not prevented Metalist progressing to the UEFA Champions League play-offs, however: Myron Markevich's team completed a 3-1 aggregate success against third qualifying round opponents PAOK FC on Wednesday.
