Pizarro faces surgery

FC Bayern München's Claudio Pizarro will have surgery on his fractured skull but should be fit within five weeks.

Injured on Friday
The 25-year-old complained of dizziness and nausea after Peru's 3-1 win against Venezuela last Friday - a match in which he was sent off in the closing minutes - and scans afterwards revealed that he had fractured his skull.

A month out
Bayern said today that Pizarro faced an absence of between four and five weeks, meaning he will miss the start of the Bundesliga season on 7 August. However, he should certainly be fit for the start of the UEFA Champions League group stage in mid-September.
