UEFA.com looks at the European records of the 20 play-off contenders, with Manchester United and Valencia back and Astana in their third continental campaign.

• Basel have reached the group stage in four of the past five seasons and went on to the last 16 in 2011/12 and 2014/15; they lost in the play-offs in 2012/13.

• This is the first time Maccabi have reached the play-offs, having lost in the third qualifying round in 2013/14 and 2014/15; their sole group stage appearance came in 2004/05 (before the play-offs were introduced).

BATE Borisov v Partizan

• BATE's two heaviest European defeats – 6-0 at Porto and 7-0 at home to Shakhtar Donetsk – both came in the 2014/15 group stage.
