Phillip Cocu, PSV coach
These matches are decided by [small] details. You can play well in the first and second half, but that is no guarantee of a good result. In Wolfsburg they were more effective. We must do things differently this time. We need a good result.

The aim is to win at home; even if we draw we are then depending on other teams. We expected it to be a tough group. It has three other strong sides with their own playing style.

Dieter Hecking, Wolfsburg coach
Our aim is to progress to the next round and to do that we need to finish first or second in the group – a win here will be a step towards that. PSV are a strong team, though, and technically sound. They may have conceded three goals last time out but they scored six!

I was also impressed by the great atmosphere against Manchester United: the crowd was fantastic. We have to be prepared for that. PSV will go all out for victory.

Weekend results
De Graafschap 3-6 PSV Eindhoven (Driver 45, Bannink 50, Kabasele 64; Pröpper 3, 31, Guardado 19, De Jong 67, Narsingh 83, Pereiro 90+1)
Few predicted many problems for the Dutch champions at the Eredivisie's bottom side, even more so after the visitors went 3-0 up inside 31 minutes. By 64 minutes, though, it was 3-3. PSV regained the initiative, however, and Gastón Pereiro's fifth goal in three outings sealed victory.

Wolfsburg 2-1 Leverkusen (Bendtner 34, Draxler 77; Hernández 40)
The Wolves are third in Germany after coming out on top in their clash with fellow UEFA Champions League contenders Leverkusen, Julian Draxler clinching matters 13 minutes from time. Draxler struck four minutes after his introduction for a Wolfsburg team who had earlier led through Nicklas Bendtner before Javier Hernández's leveller.

It's do-or-die this evening for PSV. Currently occupying last spot in Group B, anything less than a victory against Wolfsburg will make it extremely difficult for Phillip Cocu's men to qualify for the knockout stages. History is on the Dutch champions' side, but only just; they have won 19 of 37 home games in the UEFA Champions League group stage
