Conquerors of AFC Ajax in the UEFA Champions League play-offs, FC Rostov will look to claim a second Dutch scalp when they host Group D rivals PSV Eindhoven on matchday two.

Match background

Rostov
• The group stage newcomers had a chastening start on matchday one when beaten 5-0 at FC Bayern München.

• Rostov had never faced Dutch opposition before August when they got the better of Ajax in the play-off round, winning 4-1 at home in the second leg to complete a 5-2 aggregate triumph. Sardar Azmoun, Aleksandr Erokhin, Christian Noboa and Dmitri Poloz got the goals while Fedor Kudryashov was sent off.

• This is the ninth European home game Rostov have contested in their history – including their 1999 and 2000 UEFA Intertoto Cup campaigns.

PSV
• PSV are still seeking their first points after a 1-0 home loss to Club Atlético de Madrid on matchday one.

• Phillip Cocu's men failed to win on their travels in last season's UEFA Champions League (D2 L2).

• The 1988 European Cup winners are seeking a first away win in the UEFA Champions League proper since Jefferson Farfán earned them a 1-0 victory at PFC CSKA Mosvka in the 2007/08 group stage.

• PSV were 3-0 down inside the opening 36 minutes of their 3-2 defeat at PFC CSKA Moskva on matchday two of last season's group stage. Maxime Lestienne pulled two goals back in the second half.

• PSV have lost on their last four visits to Russia, including two defeats in the 2014/15 UEFA Europa League – they lost 1-0 at FC Dinamo Moskva in the group stage, then 3-0 at FC Zenit in the round of 32.

• Their overall record away to Russian opposition is W1 D0 L4.
