We are obviously very happy with the result because Werder Bremen are a very good team. It was a very good display from my team and my players showed a lot of courage. Hopefully, it will be enough to make the quarter-finals. We are almost certain of a place in the next round now but there is still a return leg to be played and we shouldn't forget that. Our tactics worked to perfection today and my players showed great discipline. Sometimes our strikers suffer a bit under the tactics because they don't get as many chances as they would like, but in the end we got a good result and that is the main thing. We have gained a lot of experience in the Champions League in recent years and the players have learnt a lot. It was definitely an important factor today.

We suffered a big defeat here today and I don't think the result really does us justice. However, I must admit that my players lacked dedication at times, especially in and around the penalty area. We know that Lyon are an excellent side and they punished us for giving them too many chances. I wouldn't say that Lyon were too clever for us. We were just too passive. We didn't stop them from hitting us on the break and therefore we were forced to react instead of taking control. I think everybody could see that my players gave it their best shot. We want to produce a better display in the return leg but we have got a huge mountain to climb if we want to reach the next round. We have done well in the Champions League so far and I am absolutely sure that my players don't want to concede another big defeat in Lyon. We will analyse today's match and hopefully will do better in Lyon.
