Advantage Chelsea and Milan

The leaders of the English and Italian leagues will be hoping to build on two-goal advantages tonight.

Bayern boost
Chelsea FC travel to FC Bayern München seeking to protect a 4-2 cushion from the first leg at Stamford Bridge. Although the Premiership high-fliers outclassed Felix Magath's team six days ago, Bayern will welcome back the potent attacking threat of Dutchman Roy Makaay and Peruvian Claudio Pizarro.

Formidable challenge
Bayern overwhelmed Premiership champions Arsenal FC 3-1 at the Olympiastadion in the Round of 16 and present a formidable challenge for any visiting side. Fresh from a 2-1 success against VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach on Saturday, which created a three-point lead in the Bundesliga title race, the 2001 European champions will not be short of confidence.

Demichelis back
While Bayern possess the firepower to overturn the deficit, the return from suspension of Martin Demichelis to the holding midfield role also strengthens the defence. But José Mourinho's Chelsea are difficult to break down too, having not lost by more than one goal during his tenure, and will be fired up for tonight's meeting which could see them progress to a second successive semi-final.

Milan meeting
A fascinating conclusion to this evening's other quarter-final awaits in Milan as FC Internazionale Milano face the unenviable task of recovering from a 2-0 defeat by AC Milan last week. Goals from Jaap Stam and Andriy Shevchenko fired the Rossoneri to a convincing 'home' victory over their city rivals.

Leaders held
But the joint Serie A leaders stuttered on Saturday, drawing 1-1 against Brescia Calcio despite a wonderful goal from Portuguese veteran Rui Costa. While Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti has key midfielder Gennaro Gattuso suspended, Brazilian international striker Adriano should be back for Roberto Mancini's Inter.

Semis beckon
The teams are competing for a place in the semi-finals to take place on 26/27 April and 3/4 May. The aggregate winners in the Olympiastadion will face Liverpool FC or Juventus FC, who conclude their tie tomorrow with the former including fit-again Djibril Cissé and the latter missing David Trezeguet. The winners between Inter and Milan will play PSV Eindhoven or Olympique Lyonnais, who meet in Wednesday's other game.
