FC Bayern München have agreed a two-year extension with midfield player Bastian Schweinsteiger.
FC Bayern München have agreed a new contract with midfield player Bastian Schweinsteiger, tying him to the club until 30 June 2009.
Schweinsteiger, who made his debut for Bayern two-and-a-half years ago in a 3-0 win against VfB Stuttgart, agreed the new deal with Bayern officials on Friday and signed the two-year extension to his contract that was due to end in the summer of the 2007.
"Bastian is one of the most talented young players in Germany and I am happy to have him," said coach Felix Magath. The 20-year-old made 26 Bundesliga appearances for Bayern in 2004/05 and played a further seven games as the German champions reached the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League.
The talented midfield player is currently preparing for the FIFA Confederations Cup with the German national team and he is likely to be included as Jürgen Klinsmann's side takes to the field for a friendly against Northern Ireland on Saturday.
