Spalletti joined AS Roma after leading Udinese to fourth place and qualification for the UEFA Champions League, which they will enter in the third qualifying round. The 47-year-old Cosmi left Genoa 1893 on Tuesday having steered them to promotion to Serie A.
Gaddafi arrival
Cosmi, who has signed a two-year contract with Udinese, made his name at AC Perugia where he spent four seasons between 2000 and 2004. Udinese have also signed the son of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi on a free transfer. Saadi Gaddafi, 32, has reached agreement on a one-year deal. He will be reunited with Cosmi, his former coach at Perugia, where he appeared once in Serie A in the 2003/04 season.
