Transfer interest
With his previous deal due to expire next summer there had been reported interest in the tall striker from clubs like Besiktas JK and Tottenham Hotspur FC. However, 'Long Jan', as he is known by the fans, did not hesitate to commit to PSV.
'Too beautiful'
"PSV are just too beautiful a club to swap for another side," said the former FC Twente player who has been in Eindhoven since the summer of 2001. "I am very happy with this."
Vital goals
The 26-year-old Dutch international was PSV's top scorer last season with 19 goals in 28 Eredivisie matches. In the Champions League he struck the only goal of the Group E encounter with Panathinaikos FC and again in the victory against AS Monaco FC in the first knockout round.
