Semedo earns Sporting chance

Sporting Clube de Portugal head coach José Peseiro has rewarded young defender Semedo with a new contract.

Chance to shine
The 20-year old Semedo was loaned to lower-division Casa Pia AC last season but seems destined to secure a place in José Peseiro's side this term, especially after Joseph Enakarhire's departure to FC Dinamo Moskva.

'Very happy'
"I'm very happy. I still don't know if I'm going to stay in the team but I'm hopeful. I want to be a champion with Sporting," he said. Semedo, whose previous deal was due to expire in 2006, has been with the Lisbon outfit since he was eight.
