Bayer 04 Leverkusen coach Klaus Toppmöller has extended his contract with the German 1. Bundesliga side until 2005.
Great season
Toppmöller, 51, joined the club in June last year and guided them to the UEFA Champions League and German Cup finals as well as second place in the league behind champions BV Borussia Dortmund. The coach helped bring out the best in the unfashionable side and did much for the careers of Michael Ballack, Lucio and Zé Roberto.
Former international
His previous contract was due to expire at the end of this season. Toppmöller, who previously coached VfL Bochum 1848, is a former West German international striker with three caps to his name.
