Schönenberger savours 'perfect' night

Coach Urs Schönenberger was in dreamland after FC Thun recorded their first ever UEFA Champions League victory by seeing off AC Sparta Praha.

A last-minute goal from Selver Hodzic gave FC Thun their first ever UEFA Champions League victory on a night when the Swiss newcomers were competing in their first home game in the competition. Maximum points lifted Thun into second place in Group B and provided the cue for scenes of huge joy in Berne.

Urs Schönenberger, Thun coach
There is only one word to say tonight and that is 'perfect'. In the end millimetres proved the difference between the teams. We tried to start powerfully but there were too many errors and we had to run too much, even though it was a slow game. I would now like for us to take a minimum of one point from our next match in Amsterdam [against AFC Ajax].

Jaroslav Hrebík, Sparta coach
It is difficult to say something about the game. Both teams played very well in defence and in the end it was a lucky punch which settled the result. We didn't make too many mistakes tonight, although we would have liked to have played a more open game; the players could not do as I asked.
