Duff in doubt for Betis games

Winger Damien Duff could be sidelined for Chelsea FC's next two UEFA Champions League games following "routine arthroscopic knee surgery".

'Successful operation'
Duff suffered a knee injury playing for the Republic of Ireland on Saturday, ruling him out of Wednesday's vital FIFA World Cup qualifier against Switzerland in Dublin and in all likelihood the rest of October. A Chelsea statement said: "The surgery to mend his cartilage injury was successful and he was back at the training ground today, Tuesday." Chelsea are unbeaten after two Group G games and also top the Premiership having won all eight of their matches to date.
