Wenger hails 'a great night'

Arsenal FC manager Arsène Wenger was delighted with his side's stunning 2-0 first-leg victory over Juventus, but insists the tie is far from being over.

Arsenal FC manager Arsène Wenger insisted the UEFA Champions League quarter-final against Juventus remained in the balance despite unanswered goals from Cesc Fabregas and Thierry Henry at Highbury - and Juve facing suspensions to Mauro Camoranesi, Jonathan Zebina and Patrick Vieira in next week's second leg in Turin.

Arsène Wenger, Arsenal manager
It was a great night for us. We played well defensively and scored two goals as well. I was very pleased we managed to combine the two. The fluency, speed and technical quality of the side was very high and my only regret is that we did not score one more goal. We have completed half the job and we want to finish it next week. It is 50-50 whether we go through and there is a long way to go before we can think about winning the tournament.

Fabio Capello, Juventus coach
The tie is still alive but we need a big performance in Turin. We played well in the first half until Arsenal scored a goal we should not have conceded, and the second goal could also have been avoided. After that, Arsenal played very well and they were very fresh because they had not played a match for nine days.

Gilberto, Arsenal midfielder
I'm very pleased. We played very well. But if we go to Turin thinking we have done enough, we will be in trouble. Juventus are a team who never give up and they showed that against Werder Bremen. We need to concentrate on our job and then it doesn't matter what the opposition do. We kept our shape and passed the ball well. The competition is very important because we are frustrated with our season in the Premiership. The only thing we have is the Champions League but we know it's difficult to win. To achieve that we need to go step by step.

Cesc Fabregas, Arsenal midfielder
It was a fantastic performance. It is half-time in the game and we know it will be hard in Turin, but not impossible. We showed today we can play against anyone in the world and if we continue to play like that, we will be a very good team.
