Zidane sidelined for Genk game

Zinedine Zidane and Ronaldo are among five players who will miss Real Madrid CF's game against KRC Genk.

Zinedine Zidane and Ronaldo will be among five first-choice players who will miss Real Madrid CF's final UEFA Champions League first group stage game against KRC Genk.

Key injuries
Zidane is suffering from back pain, while Ronaldo, who scored the opening goal in Saturday's 3-2 win against neighbours Rayo Vallecano, is being rested. With qualification for the second phase already ensured coach Vicente del Bosque has also decided to rest midfield players Esteban Cambiasso and Claude Makelele and to give Spanish international forward Raúl González a little more time to recover from a recent bout of gastroenteritis.

Back problem
Zidane sustained his back injury during the league match at Vallecano and was forced to leave the pitch shortly after the half-hour mark and is expected to undergo further tests early next week to assess the extent of the problem. Madrid, who beat Genk 6-0 at home in September, will be guaranteed first place in Group C if they beat the Belgian side again on Tuesday.
