Manchester United FC have secured Giuseppe Rossi on a long-term contract with Sir Alex Ferguson calling the striker "the future of the club".

'Fantastic talent'
The 19-year-old made his Old Trafford breakthrough last season, making a dozen appearances in all competitions and scoring his first Premiership goal in a 3-1 victory against Sunderland AFC. Rossi, who was born in New York, joined United from Parma FC before the 2004/05 campaign and has been a prolific goalscorer at reserve-team level. Ferguson said: "We are delighted he has signed a new contract, he represents the future of the club. Last year he had a remarkable season and he is developing all the time. Giuseppe is a fantastic talent and we see a great future ahead."
