Bordeaux fearful over Fernando

FC Girondins de Bordeaux midfielder Fernando Menegazzo could be in doubt for the start of the UEFA Champions League after dislocating his shoulder.

FC Girondins de Bordeaux midfielder Fernando Menegazzo could be in doubt for the start of the French club's UEFA Champions League campaign after dislocating his shoulder on Saturday.

Question mark
The Brazilian suffered the injury during the first half of Bordeaux's 1-0 victory at FC Lorient which kept Ricardo Gomes's team top of Ligue 1 after two matches. Bordeaux confirmed today that Fernando "will require three weeks' rest", putting a question mark against his availability on UEFA Champions League Matchday 1 – 12/13 September. Fernando was a key figure in Bordeaux's second-placed finish last season, scoring five goals in 31 games after arriving on loan from AC Siena. The 25-year-old former EC Juventude, Grêmio FBPA and Calcio Catania player has since made that move permanent.
