Confident Bridge commits to Chelsea

Chelsea FC left-back Wayne Bridge insisted he would "continue to get opportunities" to play after signing a new four-year contract with the Stamford Bridge club.

Chelsea FC left-back Wayne Bridge has committed his future to the Stamford Bridge club by signing a new four-year contract today. The English international may have lost his place in Chelsea's starting XI to Ashley Cole but he declared he was confident he would "continue to get opportunities" after putting pen to paper.

'Delighted to have signed'
Bridge, who has made seven appearances in the Premiership and one in the UEFA Champions League this term, said: "I feel as though I'm playing well this season. I believe that I will continue to get opportunities and I'm delighted to have signed."

Winner against Arsenal
The former Southampton FC player, whose previous deal had 18 months to run, joined Chelsea in summer 2003 and in his first season scored the winning goal in their UEFA Champions League quarter-final victory over Arsenal FC. The 26-year-old had a loan spell at Fulham FC last term as he fought his way back to fitness, earning a place in England's 2006 FIFA World Cup squad in the process.
