Neville ruled out of Roma games

Captain Gary Neville will miss both legs of Manchester United FC's quarter-final against AS Roma because his ankle injury is more serious than initially suspected.

Captain Gary Neville will miss both legs of Manchester United FC's UEFA Champions League quarter-final against AS Roma with an ankle injury.

Three more weeks
The 32-year-old England right-back has been sidelined since suffering ankle ligament damage early in the Premiership victory against Bolton Wanderers FC on 17 March, and subsequent tests have shown the problem to be more serious than suspected, requiring a further three-week lay-off.

'Good work'
"The swelling has only just gone down on his ankle so the injury was maybe a bit worse than we thought in terms of the swelling," said manager Sir Alex Ferguson. "But he's been doing some good work in the gym and I expect him to be back in the first team in three weeks' time." Premiership leaders United play their quarter-final first leg in Rome on 4 April, with the return at Old Trafford six days later.
