Valencia CF will be without midfielder Vicente Rodríguez for five weeks after medical tests at the club on Thursday evening confirmed a tear to his left hamstring.
The 25-year-old winger sustained the injury during Wednesday's UEFA Champions League quarter-final first leg against Chelsea FC and had to be replaced two minutes before the hour at Stamford Bridge. The lay-off is the latest blow to the Spanish international, who has missed much of the season with a succession of injuries. Problems with his ankle and calf muscle have restricted the playmaker to just 16 Primera División appearances and four goals this term.
Vicente will definitely miss the second leg of Valencia's tie with the English champions next Tuesday, which is intriguingly poised after the 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday, and is likely to be ruled out of the semi-final as well should Quique Sánchez Flores' team progress that far. The semi-finals will be played on 24/25 April and 1/2 May.
