Antzas absence hurts Olympiacos

Olympiacos CFP's hopes of keeping a top-two position in UEFA Champions League Group C have been hurt by an injury to central defender Paraskevas Antzas.

Olympiacos CFP's hopes of maintaining a top-two position in UEFA Champions League Group C have been hurt by an injury to central defender Paraskevas Antzas.

Month's absence
The 31-year-old Greek international damaged his right thigh during Olympiacos's league draw at Ergotelis FC on Sunday and faces a four-week lay-off. He will miss the UEFA Champions League visit of Real Madrid CF on 6 November but could return for the trip to S.S. Lazio three weeks later.

Key figure
His absence will be a blow to coach Panagiotis Lemonis, because Antzas has been ever-present as Olympiacos have collected four points from three games to take second place in Group C. Antzas, who has appeared in five of his team's six Super League matches this term, will also sit out Wednesday's Greek Super Cup tie against Larissa FC in addition to several other domestic fixtures. Olympiacos will conclude their group-stage campaign at home to Werder Bremen on 11 December.
