Ronaldo doubtful for Turin test

Real Madrid CF striker Ronaldo is a serious doubt for next week's semi-final second leg against Juventus FC.

Ronaldo is a serious doubt for the UEFA Champions League semi-final second leg against Juventus FC next Wednesday after the Real Madrid CF striker was taken off injured early in the second half of tonight's 2-1 first-leg win over the Italian side at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Opening goal
Ronaldo, who missed the start of the season with a muscle injury in his left leg then an ankle problem, was replaced by Javier Portillo on 50 minutes after putting the home side ahead with a 23rd-minute strike.

Wednesday prognosis
The Brazilian started the second half but hobbled off soon after the restart, leaving Madrid down to ten men before Portillo was brought on. Madrid team doctor Alfonso del Corral will examine the player on Wednesday before giving his prognosis.

'Full test'
"It seems to be a calf injury and we will give it a full test tomorrow," said Madrid coach Vicente del Bosque, who will almost certainly be without the Brazilian for this weekend's league match away to RC Recreativo de Huelva. "It seems almost certain to me that Ronaldo will miss the return match in Turin," club president Florentino Pérez added.

Juve suspensions
Juventus, meanwhile, will be without defenders Ciro Ferarra and Mark Iuliano for the second leg at the Delle Alpi. Both were booked in Madrid and will now serve one-match suspensions.
