Rijkaard delight at Schalke shutout

FC Barcelona's defensive qualities were key to their victory against an FC Schalke 04 team whose tactical display earned praise from both coaches at Camp Nou.

We came out very strongly from the first whistle, displaying our own style of play, and we had a lot of chances to score in the first half. It got a lot more difficult for us in the second period but we stayed faithful to our game. Barcelona were very good and we tried to tinker with our tactics and managed to create a few more opportunities although it didn't work out and we lost despite all our hard work. Barcelona are now in the semi-finals and I don't know what will happen against Manchester United. I don't know if Barcelona will win but they'll have Lionel Messi back by then so will be much stronger. Overall, I think we played much better in the first leg in Germany than we did tonight, but the circumstances were different of course.
