Turin expectant as Zidane returns

Zinedine Zidane returns to Turin tonight as Juventus FC and Real Madrid CF contest the right to join AC Milan in the UEFA Champions League final.

Some 70,000 spectators will fill the Stadio Delle Alpi in Turin tonight to see which of Juventus FC and Real Madrid CF will join AC Milan in the UEFA Champions League final.

No Ronaldo
Holders Madrid, chasing a 13th final and tenth European crown, lead 2-1 from last Tuesday's first leg and welcome back Raúl González after his appendix operation. However, Ronaldo has failed to recover fully from his calf injury and will start on the bench. For Juventus, meanwhile, Igor Tudor and Paolo Montero are expected to deputise for the suspended Ciro Ferrara and Mark Iuliano.

Zidane returns
A victory for two-times European champions Juventus would mean a first all-Italian Champions League final. Whatever the outcome, however, it promises to be a night to remember for Zinedine Zidane, who spent five years with Juve before joining Madrid in summer 2001. "It will be a special moment," said the Frenchman. "I can't deny it. I have a lot of friends who I will say hello to at the end of the game."

Five-man defence
Zidane was in the Juve team beaten 1-0 by Madrid in the 1998 Champions League final. He expects the newly crowned Italian champions to "attack us from all angles" - yet Madrid coach Vicente del Bosque's should resist the temptation to play a five-man defence. A 1-0 win for Juventus would carry them through on the away goals rule; if they are leading 2-1 at full time then the match will go into extra time.
