FC Porto have found a replacement for José Bosingwa following the right-back's move to Chelsea FC, paying FC Rapid Bucureşti €2.5m for their Romanian international defender Cristian Săpunaru.

Five-year deal
The 24-year-old joins the Portuguese champions on a five-year contract, although the fee is for just 50 per cent of the player's rights. A €25m sell-on clause has been inserted into the contract. Săpunaru, who travelled to UEFA EURO 2008™ but did not play, will join the rest of the Porto squad at their pre-season training camp in Germany. The Dragons will enter the UEFA Champions League in the group stage.
