PSV Eindhoven coach Huub Stevens praised his team's patience and passion as Danny Koevermans struck twice in the last 19 minutes to secure victory against Olympique de Marseille. While PSV are off the mark in Group D, Marseille remain without a point and Erik Gerets bemoaned his side's second-half "collapse".

Huub Stevens, PSV coach
We played with passion and discipline. We waited for our opportunities and chances. Two-nil is a good result. We could have scored earlier in the match and if you are creating chances, you have to be satisfied. The defeat on Saturday [at NAC Breda] didn't unsettle us. Our confidence is boosted after this result. I used a tactical lineup today that was specially designed for tonight. We have to now focus on third place and with every match we are making progress step by step as a team. In European football you have to be patient but this result gives us confidence for the future.

Erik Gerets, Marseille coach
I am surprise that we played badly in the second half. Although we had some opportunities on the wings, in the second half PSV played with more passion and more courage. In the first half we played reasonably but in the second the team collapsed, and I was happy when the game was over. The team played quite well in the first two Champions League matches but not today. We didn't have the freshness today and that is maybe because of our match last Sunday [a 3-1 win at Valenciennes FC]. We have now lost three matches in the Champions League so we have to fight for third place, for the UEFA Cup. I am going to talk with some of the players about the second half because I saw everyone make mistakes; at the front, in midfield, in defence. And I am disappointed about how the goals were conceded because we knew the quality of the PSV strikers.
