Lotina cheered by Celta contract

RC Celta de Vigo coach Miguel Angel Lotina has been rewarded with a new contract.

RC Celta de Vigo coach Miguel Angel Lotina has been rewarded with a new contract after guiding the club into the UEFA Champions League for the first time.

Deal agreed
Celta president Horacio Gómez agreed the deal for Lotina to stay in charge until 30 June next year following the club's success in securing fourth place in the Primera División by winning 3-2 at home against Real Sociedad last weekend. Both parties had agreed the terms of the deal several weeks ago but were waiting to see where Celta would finish in the league.

Praise for players
"It's been a special week for me though the deal was almost sealed already," said Lotina. "The offer was really exciting for me and I couldn't reject it though I am more worried about the club reaching an agreement with important players like [Aleksandr] Mostovoi. They are the real stars here."

New signings wanted
Having established his future, Lotina has already started to look ahead. "The main goals for next season will be having a good performance in the league and to reach as far as possible in Europe," he said. "We just need three or four new players to do so."
