FC Steaua Bucureşti have released Spanish midfielder Abel Gómez Moreno and Brazilian forward Arthuro by mutual consent on the eve of their final UEFA Champions League Group F fixture at home to ACF Fiorentina.

Brief careers
The two players have been allowed to leave the Romanian team before the end of their contracts, with club president Valeriu Argăseală saying "the only reason was because it was impossible for them to settle at Steaua". The 26-year-old Abel was signed during the last close season from Real Murcia CF, being limited to a solitary Liga 1 appearance and also failing to feature in the UEFA Champions League. By contrast Arthuro, also 26, scored once in nine league outings this term, and once more in three Group F games, having arrived in the summer from another Spanish outfit, Córdoba CF. Steaua, bottom of Group F, can still win a UEFA Cup spot by defeating third-placed Fiorentina on Wednesday.
