John O'Shea could miss Manchester United FC's UEFA Champions League first knockout round tie with AC Milan after manager Sir Alex Ferguson said the defender's thigh injury is likely to keep him sidelined for a further two months.

'No recovery'
The Republic of Ireland international sustained the problem during his country's FIFA World Cup play-off against France on 18 November, but there has been no improvement since with Sir Alex saying: "There is no sign at all of a recovery at the moment. It's a big loss because he's such a versatile player. It could be a couple of months yet." There was better news on fellow defenders Jonny Evans and Rio Ferdinand, though, with both returning to light training following injury lay-offs. United meet Milan on 16 February and 10 March for a place in the quarter-finals of Europe's premier club competition.
