Beşiktaş shoot down Sheriff

FC Sheriff 0-3 Beşiktaş JK (agg: 0-4) The Turkish giants eased into the third qualifying round, proving too strong for the ten men of the Moldovan champions.

Beşiktaş JK eased into the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round, brushing aside ten-man FC Sheriff as Bobo scored twice in Tiraspol to seal a 4-0 aggregate triumph.

Mamah dismissal
Having limited Beşiktaş to a 1-0 victory in Turkey last week, the Moldovan champions were hopeful of claiming a sizeable scalp. Yet when Abdul Mamah was dismissed on 27 minutes, those aspirations swiftly faded and as the second half wore on the visitors made them pay. Bobo struck either side of the hour, before Koray Avcı rounded off an impressive win in injury time to set up a meeting with FC Zürich.

Early endeavour
It was a disappointing end to a match that had begun brightly for the home team who took the game to Beşiktaş. It required an acrobatic stop from Hakan Arikan to keep out Mamah's goal-bound effort before Benjamin Balima fired over the crossbar when well placed. The momentum came to an abrupt halt when Mamah was sent off, however. Bobo headed in the opener on 57 minutes before making it 2-0 midway through the second half after capitalising on a Serghei Pascenco mistake. There was no way back for Sheriff.
