A single strike from the penalty spot by Alexandru Suvorov was the difference between FC Sheriff and FC International Turku for the second week running as the Moldovan champions progressed to a meeting with SK Slavia Praha.

Balima fouled
The deciding moment took place on 69 minutes when, as in the first meeting in Finland, goalkeeper Patrick Bantamoi felled Benjamin Balima and once again Suvorov made no mistake from the spot. It was due reward for Sheriff, who had taken the initiative from the start and could have opened the scoring on a number of occasions in the first half. Yet the hosts lacked precision, while Bantamoi made a couple of saves to boot.

Teasing corners
Two dangerous episodes in the visitors' box came from Suvorov corners with Andrei Corneencov heading one against the post, before Bantamoi parried good efforts by Balima and Corneencov. In the second half, Inter could have taken the lead only for Stanislav Namasco to save his team after shots by Timo Furuholm and Alberto Ramirez Torres. Suvorov eventually settled any nerves to give Sheriff a shot at another Prague club, having been eliminated by AC Sparta Praha last term.
