Porto seek power of three against Dynamo

FC Porto will be hoping to make it three wins out of three in Group A when FC Dynamo Kyiv visit the Estádio do Dragão.

• The Portuguese champions beat Paris Saint-Germain FC 1-0 in their first home game having triumphed 2-0 at GNK Dinamo Zagreb on matchday one. Dynamo opened with a 4-1 loss in Paris before a 2-0 home win against Dinamo in Oleh Blokhin's first UEFA Champions League match as a coach.

Previous meetings
• The teams met in the 2008/09 group stage with each winning away. Dynamo were 1-0 victors in Portugal thanks to a 27th-minute Oleksandr Aliyev goal, and took the lead in the return fixture in Kyiv through Artem Milevskiy (21). Second-half strikes from Rolando (69) and Lucho González (90+2) turned the match around. Porto went on to win the group, with Arsenal second and Dynamo third.

• Porto won 2-1 home and away against Dynamo in the 1986/87 European Champion Clubs' Cup semi-finals, with Blokhin in the starting lineup for both games. At the Estádio das Antas, Porto's former home, Paulo Futre and António André scored for the home team with Pavel Yakovenko replying. By the tenth minute of the return in Kyiv, Porto led 2-0 after goals from Celso and Luís Eduardo. Oleksiy Mykhailychenko quickly pulled one back but Porto advanced and beat FC Bayern München in the Vienna final to claim their first European Cup.

• Porto met FC Shakhtar Donetsk in last season's group stage, winning 2-1 at home and 2-0 away. Their record in eight games against Ukrainian sides is W6 D1 L1 (W3 D0 L1 at home).

• Dynamo bowed out to Portuguese opposition in the 2011/12 UEFA Europa League quarter-finals, losing on away goals to SC Braga after drawing 1-1 at home and 0-0 away. They have played 12 games against Portuguese sides with the record W3 D2 L7 (W1 D1 L4 away). Their first four games in Portugal all ended in defeat, scoring two goals and conceding 13, before the 1-0 win at Porto in October 2008.

Match background
• Porto are in the group stage for the 17th time and in last season's campaign remained unbeaten at home. Despite the 2-1 win against Shakhtar, draws with APOEL FC (1-1) and FC Zenit St Petersburg (0-0) left them third in Group G.

• This is Dynamo's 14th UEFA Champions League campaign, and first since 2009/10 when they drew 2-2 at FC Internazionale Milano and 0-0 at FC Rubin Kazan after their first away fixture ended in a 2-0 defeat by FC Barcelona.

• This season Dynamo won both away games in qualifying, 1-0 at Feyenoord and 3-1 at VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Team ties
• Miguel Veloso is an international team-mate of João Moutinho, Rolando, Silvestre Varela and Miguel Lopes for Portugal.

• Veloso and Moutinho came through the ranks at Sporting Clube de Portugal and were team-mates in the senior side for several seasons, winning two Portuguese Cups together.

• Veloso was also a team-mate of Varela at Sporting from 2005 to 2008 but Varela was on loan elsewhere most of that time.

• Marco Ruben, Lucho and Nicolás Otamendi are international team-mates with Argentina.

• Maicon and Dudu played together in the Cruzeiro EC youth setup between 2003 and 2007. Kléber and Leandro Almeida were team-mates at CA Mineiro in 2009.
