Juventus travel to Sevilla FC on matchday six looking to cement their place at the top of UEFA Champions League Group D.

• Massimiliano Allegri's side lead the section by two points from Manchester City FC after beating the English side 1-0 on matchday five to ensure their place in the last 16. They now require only a point in Seville to guarantee top spot.

• Sevilla are bottom of Group D after their 4-2 loss at VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach last time out and need a victory over Juventus – and for Gladbach to fail to win at City – if they are to snatch third place and UEFA Europa League entry.

Match background

Sevilla
• Unai Emery's team are seeking their first points since the 3-0 victory over Mönchengladbach on matchday one.

• Last season's UEFA Europa League winners are on a run of four straight defeats in Europe – the worst sequence in their history began with a 2-0 loss at Juventus on matchday two.

• This would be the first time since the 2008/09 UEFA Cup that Sevilla have failed to progress from a UEFA competition group stage.

• The Andalusian club earned their first home victory over Serie A opposition six months ago when defeating ACF Fiorentina 3-0 in the first leg of the UEFA Europa League semi-finals (aggregate 5-0). Neto, now at Juventus, was the Viola goalkeeper.

• In winning their fourth UEFA Europa League/UEFA Cup in May, Sevilla surpassed Juventus's three titles and became the club with most triumphs in the competition outright.

• The third of those four successes came at the Juventus Stadium in 2013/14, Sevilla overcoming SL Benfica 4-2 on penalties after a goalless final.

Juventus
• One of four teams still to lose in this season's competition, Juventus are also on a six-game unbeaten run away from home in the UEFA Champions League, stretching back to October 2014.

• Juve visited Spain twice en route to last season's UEFA Champions League final. They lost 1-0 at Club Atlético de Madrid in the group stage, then drew 1-1 at Real Madrid CF in the semi-finals with Álvaro Morata scoring. The Turin club lost the final 3-1 to FC Barcelona, despite another Morata goal.

• Their overall away record against Liga opposition is W3 D5 L14.

Coach and player links
• With Valencia CF, Sevilla boss Emery oversaw home (3-2) and away (2-1) wins over Genoa CFC in the 2009/10 UEFA Europa League group stage.

• As AC Milan coach, Allegri suffered UEFA Champions League elimination against Barcelona twice in successive seasons – in the 2011/12 quarter-finals and the 2012/13 round of 16. His overall record against Liga clubs with the Rossoneri was W1 D4 L5.

• Fernando Llorente scored 23 Serie A goals in two campaigns with Juventus (2013/15), landing back-to-back league titles before joining Sevilla.

• Ciro Immobile began his career in Juve's youth ranks and after his senior debut in March 2009 he appeared five times in total for the Bianconeri. He was in the Borussia Dortmund side beaten 2-1 at Juventus in last term's round of 16.

• Martín Cáceres played for Sevilla between 2010 and 2012. He also had spells with RC Recreativo de Huelva and Barcelona.

• Sami Khedira won seven out of eight matches against Sevilla with Real Madrid.

• Neither Morata (Madrid) nor Mario Mandžukić (Atlético) scored against Sevilla in their two Spanish Liga appearances.

• As an AC Chievo Verona player Marco Andreolli faced Juventus three times, drawing twice in Turin and losing once at home.

• As a Milan player (2014–15), Adil Rami lost all three games against Juventus.

• Rami was in the France side beaten 3-0 by Hernanes's Brazil in a June 2013 friendly, Hernanes scoring the second goal.

• Benoît Trémoulinas made his France debut in a 2-1 away win against Italy in November 2012. Andrea Barzagli, Leonardo Bonucci, Giorgio Chiellini and Claudio Marchisio played for Italy.

• Players who have played together:
