UEFA EURO 2016 qualifying kicks off on Sunday 7 September when debutants Gibraltar make their bow, and former champions Germany and Denmark get their campaigns under way.

The opening set of games runs from that Sunday to Tuesday 9 September and in all there are ten matchdays. These are scheduled either Thursday to Saturday or Sunday to Tuesday with kick-off times set largely at 18.00CET and 20.45CET as part of the Week of Football.

Among the highlights on the first matchday, holders Spain host the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, while Gibraltar play their first competitive game, at home to UEFA EURO 2012 co-hosts Poland.

Meanwhile, final tournament hosts France travel to Serbia for the first of their ten friendly outings against Group I teams. The qualifying group stage concludes on Tuesday 13 October 2015, with Group A's showdown between the Netherlands and Czech Republic one of that day's enticing looking ties.
