Moldova v Sweden background

Moldova are yet to avoid defeat against UEFA EURO 2016 Group G visitors Sweden, but games between the two sides have been increasingly competitive.

Moldova will look to turn over a new leaf in 2015 after losing their first two home qualifiers in UEFA EURO 2016 Group G, with Sweden aiming to maintain an unbeaten start.

Previous meetings
• Sweden have won all five of their previous games against Moldova, but those encounters have been getting increasingly competitive since the Blågult beat their opponents 2-0 away and 6-0 at home in 2002 FIFA World Cup qualifying.

• The teams subsequently met in UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying, when Sweden prevailed 2-1 at home and then 4-1 in Chisinau.

• The most recent encounter was a friendly in Abu Dhabi on 17 January 2014, which Sweden edged 2-1. Luvannor Henrique put Moldova ahead, but Erton Fejzullahu replied with two second-half goals.

• Moldova have thus scored in their last three meetings with Sweden.
