The EURO 2016 SAS steering committee met on Wednesday at Paris city hall to review the latest preparations, 44 days before the tournament kicks off on 10 June.

There was a review of stadiums, supporters and ticketing, as well as discussion about the UEFA Foundation for Children's '20,000 smiles' programme.

Security was also high on the agenda, especially around fan zones. The cost of policing ten fan zones is estimated to be €24m, which is €12m more than originally estimated due to recent events.

Patrick Kanner, government minister for city, youth and sports, announced that the French state would contribute €8m towards this sum, while UEFA will contribute €4m, subject to ratification by the UEFA Executive Committee next week.

Alain Juppé, UEFA EURO 2016 host cities' representative, thanked the state and UEFA for taking on the extra cost at their charge. He also congratulated everyone on the unity and collaboration between all parties involved, and expressed the wish that, from now on, everyone could fully focus on the sporting and festive sides of the tournament.
