UEFA's #CelebrateFootball campaign has been officially launched during the pre-tournament press conference at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis on Wednesday.

A campaign specific to UEFA EURO 2016, #CelebrateFootball seeks to celebrate the beautiful game in all its aspects, from enjoying, playing, spectating and participating to respecting both opponents and one's own self through healthy living. It was kicked off by the finals' official music ambassador David Guetta, UEFA head of refereeing Pierluigi Collina and France midfielder Blaise Matuidi, who appeared together at the press conference along with tournament mascot Super Victor.

"UEFA EURO 2016 is a unique occasion to mingle, to share experiences, to get to know people, and to live passion and emotion together," said Pierluigi Collina. "Respect is everything and football without respect cannot live."

All three men star in the #CelebrateFootball TV spot which will be screened by more than 130 broadcasters worldwide during all 51 games of the championship. The media in attendance at the Stade de France were treated to the shorter version of the film. The #CelebrateFootball message will be also visible in the stadiums on LED boarding, during stadium activities such as the giant screen, and in match programmes.

In addition, the campaign will have a strong online presence throughout the finals on the Twitter and Facebook platforms. UEFA has a social media activation and it will encourage fans to celebrate football by posting video content of themselves doing a Mexican wave either alone or with family, friends or colleagues. The #EUROwave activation aims to maintain the longest-ever wave for the entire duration of the EURO.
