UEFA to examine Giggs claim

UEFA will investigate allegations that Wales's Ryan Giggs elbowed a Russian opponent.

Video evidence
European football's governing body said that it would study video evidence before deciding whether any action was necessary. At this stage, no video evidence has been made available for study. Giggs, who plays for Manchester United FC, is alleged to have elbowed Russia defender Vadim Evseev in the face midway through the second half of the game.

Goalless draw
Saturday's match ended in a goalless draw. The return leg takes place in Cardiff on Wednesday, with the winners qualifying for next summer's UEFA European Championship final round in Portugal.
